EXPERIENCES – Outside The Hotel

The Hotel is strategically located at the juncture where the Dal and Nigeen meet , however you are not cut off from any of the major sites of Srinagar . All the major sites ( Mughal Gardens, Shankaracharya Temple, Pari Mahal and more) are located within 15 to 20 minutes from the hotel , while some like the Hari Parbat Fort, the Badamwari and the Hazratbal Mosque are just a 5 minute drive away.

Shikara Rides

The hotel is uniquely positioned as being the only hotel in its class to be right on the Nageen Lake. More so, we are at the juncture where the Nageen Lake and Dal Lake meet each other so if one takes the shikara just a 100 meters away under the bridge , our guests get  onto the Dal Lake .  Therefore whether you are an early riser and would like to catch the site of the vegetable vendors selling and buying vegetables early morning on the lake Or you would like to take a relaxing 3 hour ride through the off the beaten track that goes through the floating gardens and markets of the Lake OR if you fancy just a short feel of the Nageen Lake , its all available right from the hotel’s garden steps, as the Shikaras ( the traditional Kashmiri Boat ) come right to the garden steps to pick you up.

Apart from the early morning rides which require that the reception be informed to have them arranged   atleast an evening prior , the other rides just require a 10 minute notice as the Shikaras can literally be hailed from the Shikara Ghat which is at a distance opposite to the Hotel.

Bird-watching

The hotel is on the banks of the Nigeen Lake right at the juncture where the Dal Lake and the Nigeen meet each other, where our guests experience many rare species of birds including 4 different Kingfishers, Egrets, Eurasian Moorhens, Water Rails, Mallards- just to name a few of the hundreds of species and many of which are very rare, that can be spotted. It is truly a paradise for bird watchers . We recommend early morning Shikara rides deep into the bulrushes and waterways in the Lake to spot birds.

Heritage Walks- (Subject to prior booking and availability)

The hotel has tied up with a local travel firm to provide our clients with guides with an excellent command of Urdu and English and moreso, of the history of the major monuments in the old city. Our guests enjoy these “heritage walks” with them and get an “off the beaten track” sort of an experience whilst doing so and the experience also enriches their understanding of the historical importance and significance of the old city and its sites.

Golfing

The Hotel is just about a 20 minute drive from the famous Royal Springs Golf Course, Srinagar. It is a paradise for golfers and draws many golfers to visit the valley for their annual , half yearly or quarterly sessions to enjoy rounds of golf at this exquisite course.

The Hotel helps arrange transport back and forth from the golf course and subject to the Rules and Regulations of the Club can assist in arranging Tee Off timings with pre-paid slots for larger groups ( above 24 golfers).

Water-sports and motor boating on the Nageen Lake

Come summer ( from Mid June till end August) and the swimming boats come and anchor themselves in the middle of the lake. The hotel can help arrange a Shikara to visit these Houseboats with open sides hence converted into swimming boats where you may enjoy water sports like – Motor-boating, water-skiing and surf-riding.
