Things to do Indoors
Home Like Feel
Experience a “Home Away from Home” atmosphere in our beautifully decorated lounges and comfortable common areas. The enclosed veranda offers spectacular views of the lake, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a beverage or sip on hot “Kehwa” while taking in the mesmerizing scenery. Our space is ideal for small family groups of 2 to 3 rooms or even larger gatherings, as well as for solo travelers looking to relax and unwind after a day of sightseeing.
A Haven for Artefacts and Art Lovers
The hotel is especially popular with travelers who appreciate and understand antiques. The family has many of its heirlooms on display, including old mahogany and teak furniture, with some pieces dating back over 150 years. Additionally, there are numerous pieces of china ware on display that are truly a visual delight and a paradise for collectors. However, it is important to note that none of these items are for sale!
Things to do Outdoors
Bonfires & Barbeques
If the weather permits, the hotel can organize a bonfire during the colder months upon request, with sufficient notice and for a nominal charge. Barbecues, although currently suspended, are usually organized for groups of at least 12 individuals. With the garden’s banks literally touching the water, it is truly a unique experience to sit by the lake, enjoying the warmth of the bonfire along with some snacks or beverages. Barbeque with bonfire in the winter months adds to the overall experience of clients at the hotel.
The Flora Bloom in the Garden
As spring arrives, the garden enters its second flowering season, bursting forth with a stunning array of blooms that enchant our guests and transport them into a beautiful natural habitat. Among the flowers you can find are hydrangeas, tulips, daffodil narcissus (Nargis), pansies, and various types of roses in the first season. Additionally, the garden features marigolds, salvias, verbenas, cockscomb, and “ubreshas,” to name just a few. This diverse collection of flowers is a delight to see and enjoy while relaxing in the garden.
Bird-watching
Nestled on the banks of Nigeen Lake, right where it meets the iconic Dal Lake, our hotel offers a front-row seat to a spectacular natural habitat. Guests can witness a stunning array of birdlife, including four species of Kingfishers, Egrets, Eurasian Moorhens, Water Rails, Mallards, and many other rare and beautiful birds—some of which are seldom seen elsewhere. It’s a true haven for birdwatchers. For the best experience, we highly recommend an early morning Shikara ride through the lake’s quiet bulrushes and winding waterways, where nature reveals its most magical moments.
